Huber Heights was the brainchild of developer Charles H. Huber who, in 1956, started the first privately owned utility company in Ohio and launched the construction of his first plat of brick, single-family homes. By the 1970’s, Huber Heights was a bedroom community of over 28,000 people and became known as “America’s largest community of all-brick homes.” In the 90’s, Huber Heights decided to diversify its tax base and began courting industrial development. Today, what started as a 300-acre farm field is now Center Point 70 Commerce Park - home to over 30 companies employing over 3,000 people. Development into a full- service city continues today. Two rebuilt interchanges on I-70, the new Huber Heights YMCA, 11 sub-divisions currently under construction, and the new Benchrock development point to a bright and limitless future. The City of Huber Heights and the YMCA of Greater Dayton-Huber Heights jointly operate 13 city parks. Many of the parks offer playgrounds, shelters, ballfields, basketball and tennis courts, picnic areas and trails. Various youth sports organizations use the parks fields for baseball, softball, football and soccer league play. The YMCA also offers various recreational programs in the parks. The City of Huber Heights takes a farsighted approach to doing business because we believe balanced expansion benefits everyone. If you look at Huber Heights today you'll see how that long view is paying off. Here you can have it all, the big city advantages in that desirable small town setting many executives are seeking. The hardworking Midwestern values any employer dreams of. We have over 850 businesses drawing from our own 21,000 hard working residents and 150,000 more living within a 5-mile radius. And we have 500 acres of available commercial and industrial land. Information provided by www.ci.huber-heights.oh.us |
